At the BBC Jane was in good company – with Alan Greenspan, former chairman of the US Federal Reserve, who used sales of men’s underpants as one gauge of the state of the economy. Jane helped bring that theory right up to date in 2013, speaking on BBC Radio 4 during two episodes of the You & Yours programme in January and March.
